Protesters gather in front of the Executive Mansion, along Blount St., to voice their dissatisfaction with the recent coal ash spill that happened in Eden, N.C., on March 5, 2014. The spill coated the river bottom of the Dan River with 39,000 tons of coal ash and 27 million gallons of contaminated water for at least 70 miles downstream according to state regulators from the Department of Environmental and Natural resources (DENR).
